Why Pilates?

What is Pilates and why should you try it?
The benefits of Pilates are:
  • Increased Strength & Flexibility: Pilates creates a mind-body connection working multiple muscles throughout the entire body to help rebalance muscles as well as increase the strength and quality of the muscle. At the same time, Pilates works to increase flexibility and improve the body’s range of motion.

  • Decreased Stress: Dynamic, mindful movements bring awareness inwards. Pilates improves cardiorespiratory capacity which stimulates “feel-good” hormones, oxygen flow, and improved circulation. All of this works together to help you feel good physically and relieve stress.

  • Relieves Pain: Rebalancing muscles and improving posture helps to realign the kinetic chain which results in pain relief. When we continually practice Pilates, we will continue to build muscle to support all of our joints which will continue to relieve pressure on joints and the discs within the spine.

  • Improves Energy Levels: Like other forms of exercise, Pilates gets the body moving. With an increased level of activity, many improvements in overall health are experienced as well as an increased energy level.

  • Improves Posture: Pilates is a full body workout that focuses a lot on core muscles and the muscles supporting the back. The combination of core strength and a strong back result in better posture which promotes healthier organ function and protects the spine. Better posture off the reformer results in easier day to day functionality.
