What is Pilates?

With an emphasis on breath, core conditioning and body awareness, PILATES exercise is a safe and highly effective way to stretch, strengthen and streamline your body without building bulk or stressing your joints. Performed on a mat or specialized equipment, PILATES is a fitness regime for a lifetime. The perfect complement to cardiovascular exercise, sport, rehab and life, PILATES exercises will leave you looking toned, feeling revitalized and moving with ease.

Mat Class – These classes are performed using your own body weight and small equipment. Build awareness, streamline your body, flatten your abs, and strengthen your back.  Prerequisites: None

Reformer Class
– Performed on the Reformer, these classes add spring resistance in addition to your body.  Classes will be created with a mixture of matwork, reformer, fitness circle, stability ball, and flexband exercises.  Challenge your core stability, increase flexibility, flatten your abdominals, and become more connected with how your body works.

Duet – Work out with a friend or have us arrange a partner for you.  Prerequisites: Same work out level or a similar postural analysis.

Private – Utilizing postural analysis, an individualized Pilates work out program will be designed for your specific needs. Prerequisites: Postural Analysis Consultation
** Group classes are not for those persons with acute physical problems or newly out of physical rehabilitation.  Private sessions will be recommended, with the possibility of joining group classes after a period of time.  Prerequisites: 3-5 private sessions at instructor’s discretion.
